John K. Sessions, D.V.M.

Dr. Sessions graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 1999. After graduation, he completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. He then completed a second one-year internship at Texas A&M where he practiced internal medicine exclusively. In August 2001, he began a 3-year residency in internal medicine at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, which he completed in August of 2004. He joined MedVet shortly thereafter where he has been practicing internal medicine ever since. Dr. Sessions is board certified in Internal Medicine, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
Dr. Sessions has extensive experience in endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, and rhinoscopy) and echocardiography. He also has training in abdominal ultrasound. He has a special interest in cardiology, gastrointestinal diseases, and infectious disease of dogs and cats. His research experience includes investigating the cellular effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on the canine stomach, joints, and blood. He has also recently published journal articles on certain bacterial infections and reproductive disorders in dogs. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar, jogging, and supporting his 2003 National Champion LSU Tigers.
