Referring Vet Check List for I-131 Patients

 Pre-Treatment:

• Total T4 (sent out) +/- fT4
• CBC/Chem 12+ (within 6 weeks of treatment)
• Urinalysis (within 6 weeks)
• Chest radiographs (2 views)
• Optional items include systolic blood pressure, echocardiography, etc.
• Methimazole trial (Optional) 2 weeks or longer (recommended for cats with renal
• insufficiency) with recheck urine specific gravity and renal values
• Schedule internal medicine consult at MedVet
• Schedule I-131 treatment (must be off Tapazole for at least 1 week, preferably 2)
  

Post-Treatment:

• Recheck 4-6 weeks post treatment TT4, renal values and urine specific gravity
• Recommend recheck above lab tests at 3 and 6 months post treatment
